Patterns and Trace
For this assignment we had to create and trace new patterns to get us ready for our next project which is print making. I had to think in this assignment because if we didn't read the directions right then we could mess up and have to start over. At first I thought I only had to trace patterns but as I was reading the directions it was telling me to do something else instead of just tracing it. It made me create different patterns. I'm not a creative and artistic person so I was pleased to know that I created patterns by myself. I hope to use my pattern techniques into print making so it can turn out well.
Altered Book- Begin to create
The first page of my altered book is the cover and it is the colors of the mexican flag. I did this because when someone looks at it, they can automatically assume what the book will probably be about. I´m having a little bit of problems of trying to put the eagle on the flag. I don´t know how to draw great so instead I prinyed out a drawing of the eagle but it doesn´t look good and real. The second page is one of Mexico´s states. This state is where my family and I are from. I decided to put pictures of me and my family because most of my family still lives there and it will represent the unity we have and that no matter where we live, Torreon will always be our #1 home.
Altered Book- Begin to create spreads
I didn´t know at first what theme I wanted to use for my altered book but as I started thinking about it more and more I found some topics. I wanted the book to be about soccer to represent the love and passion I have for the sport but then I I thought it would be too much since I already did my collage about soccer. So instead of doing soccer, my theme for my book is going to be about Mexico. Mexico has many states and each state has something different and has a different culture. I´m going to be picking eight states in Mexico that interest me, do some research about them and try to represent them in my altered book this year.
